Agave sp. (variegated)
Origin: Americas (cultivated variegated form)

A striking agave with leaves edged or striped in cream or yellow. A bold architectural plant for balconies, terraces and sunny spots.
- Cream or yellow striped leaves
- Bold symmetrical rosette
- Very drought and heat tolerant
Variegated agaves bring strong, architectural lines and bright colour to any collection. Their thick, pointed leaves are striped or edged in cream to yellow, forming a symmetrical rosette. They are very tough, drought tolerant and love sun, making them ideal for terraces and balconies across India. Leaf tips are sharp, so place them away from walkways and children's play areas.
Light
Full sun or very bright light keeps the variegation strong and the rosette compact.
Watering
Water when completely dry; it handles drought far better than overwatering.
Soil & Pot
Gritty mix: about 60–70% mineral (coarse river sand, pumice or perlite, brick chips) and 30–40% coco peat or compost. Terracotta pot with a drainage hole.
Monsoon Care
Outdoors, place under cover or in a raised, well-drained pot so rain does not collect in the crown.
Feeding
Quarter-strength cactus fertiliser (low nitrogen) once a month, February–May and October–November. None during monsoon and peak summer.
Safety
Trim sharp tips if needed and wear gloves when repotting.
Watch Out For
Crown rot from trapped water, scale insects on leaves.
