The Verdanest Isopod Starter Tub takes the guesswork out of starting with isopods. Everything is portioned to fit a 3L enclosure. The ventilated tub keeps air moving, the substrate gives isopods something to burrow and feed in, and the moss holds a humid corner. Leaf litter is their main food, while cork bark and a lotus pod give them places to hide and breed. Add your isopods and you are ready to go.
- Soak the sphagnum moss in clean water for 10 minutes, then squeeze it until damp, not dripping.
- Lightly moisten the substrate and spread it 4–5 cm deep across the tub.
- Push the moss into one corner to make a humid zone; keep the opposite side drier.
- Lay the cork bark and lotus pod on top, then scatter leaf litter over the surface.
- Add your isopods, close the lid and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
Care level: Beginner. Maintain stable humidity and temperature appropriate for this species, provide adequate leaf litter/cover, and avoid sudden environmental swings.
