Isopods need a steady supply of calcium to build their exoskeletons, moult safely and produce healthy young. Without it, cultures grow slowly and moults can fail. This calcium block gives your colony a constant source they can graze on whenever they need it. Every isopod enclosure should have one, especially for rolling species like Armadillidium and Cubaris.
- Place the block on the drier side of the enclosure so it does not turn soft or mouldy.
- Leave it in permanently; isopods graze on it as needed.
- Replace it when it is mostly gone, or crumble a small piece into the substrate.
Care level: Beginner. Maintain stable humidity and temperature appropriate for this species, provide adequate leaf litter/cover, and avoid sudden environmental swings.
