Dried lotus pods are a favourite with isopod keepers. The honeycomb of seed holes makes perfect small hiding spots, and many isopods, especially Cubaris, rest and gather inside them. As the pod softens on damp substrate, isopods slowly graze on it too. It adds a striking natural look to tubs and terrariums at a very low price.
- Rinse quickly under clean water.
- Place it holes-down on damp substrate, or holes-up as a display piece.
- Replace it once it has been mostly eaten or turns mouldy.
Care level: Beginner. Maintain stable humidity and temperature appropriate for this species, provide adequate leaf litter/cover, and avoid sudden environmental swings.
