  • Giant size, up to 3.5 cm
  • Glowing yellow, semi-translucent morph
  • Dramatic flared skirts and tail spikes

Porcellio bolivari, nicknamed the skeleton isopod, is one of the largest and most dramatic isopods in the hobby. The Yellow Ghost morph has a ghostly, semi-translucent body infused with glowing lemon-yellow tones, wide flared skirts and long, spear-like uropods. Adults reach 3–3.5 cm. It needs a dry, well-ventilated enclosure with a clear damp side and breeds steadily once settled.

Premium collection: these are slower-breeding, collector-grade species. Cultures are limited and shipped as a mixed-age group of 6 or more, which gives you the best chance of both sexes and a breeding start. Keep them in a stable, shaded room, below 28°C.

Large, cross-ventilated enclosure; airflow is essential. Substrate of coco peat with crushed limestone, leaf litter and rotting wood, kept mostly dry with one damp, moss-filled side. Feed vegetables, a little fruit, protein twice a week and constant calcium. Keep below 26°C in summer.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee

We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.

Acclimation Tips on Arrival

  1. Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
  2. Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
  3. Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
  4. Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
