Pilea cadierei, the aluminium plant, has puckered green leaves marked with raised silver patches that look almost painted. It grows quickly and roots easily, making it a great value plant for filling space in larger open terrariums and paludariums. Pinch it regularly to keep it bushy; leggy stems can be cut and re-rooted.
Light
Medium to bright indirect light keeps growth compact and the silver bright.
Watering
Keep lightly moist; let the surface dry slightly between waterings.
Humidity
Grows well in average to high humidity.
Planting a Cutting
Insert the cutting 2 cm deep into moist mix; roots form in 1–2 weeks.
Pruning
Pinch tips every few weeks to stop it getting leggy.
