Creeping fig is one of the easiest ways to make a terrarium look established. It sends out thin stems with small, heart-shaped leaves that cling to backgrounds, cork and rocks using tiny aerial roots. It grows quickly in humid conditions and tolerates a wide range of light. Trim it regularly in closed terrariums to keep it in shape; the trimmings root easily to start new plants.
Light
Grows in most light levels; brighter light gives denser growth with smaller leaves.
Watering
Keep the substrate evenly moist. In closed terrariums, mist only if the glass stops fogging.
Humidity
Thrives above 60%; leaves crisp quickly in dry air outside a terrarium.
Planting a Cutting
Lay the cutting on moist substrate with its nodes touching the soil, or pin it against cork. Roots form in 1–2 weeks.
Pruning
Trim every few weeks once established. Pinch tips to make it bushier.
