A rare Chinese Cubaris famous for its three-tone colouring. One of the most exclusive isopods in our collection.
- Distinctive three-tone colouring
- Rare Chinese locality species
- Rolls into a ball
Cubaris 'Daxin' comes from Daxin County in Guangxi, southern China, and is known in the hobby for its distinctive three-tone shell. It rolls into a ball, feeds mainly on decaying wood and leaf litter and does well with medium-high humidity and medium ventilation. Despite its rarity it is considered fairly easy to keep, provided it stays cool. It prefers temperatures up to about 26°C, so it needs the coolest spot you have during Indian summers.
Premium collection: these are slower-breeding, collector-grade species. Cultures are limited and shipped as a mixed-age group of 6 or more, which gives you the best chance of both sexes and a breeding start. Keep them in a stable, shaded room, below 28°C.
Coco peat with lots of rotting hardwood and leaf litter, moss and cork bark, with a moist side and a drier side. Medium ventilation. Supplement with fish food and calcium (cuttlebone or limestone). Keep below 26°C; above 28°C, losses are likely.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee
We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.
Acclimation Tips on Arrival
- Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
- Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
- Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
- Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
