  • Perfect for closed terrariums
Where to Place It: Foreground groundcover or around the base of rocks and wood.

What You Receive: One cutting with several fronds, packed in moist moss.

Selaginella uncinata, the peacock spikemoss, is famous for its iridescent blue-green colour, which shimmers in the right light. It forms a low, spreading mat of fine fronds that roots as it creeps, making it a superb groundcover for humid terrariums. It needs constant moisture and high humidity, and its colour is strongest in lower light.

Light

Low to medium indirect light; the blue sheen fades in bright light.

Watering

Never let it dry out; keep the substrate constantly moist.

Humidity

Needs high humidity; best in a closed terrarium.

Planting a Cutting

Lay the cutting flat on moist substrate and pin it down; it roots along the stem.

Trimming

Trim edges to stop it smothering smaller plants.
