A soft blue-grey Cubaris that rolls into a ball and thrives in humid, tropical setups. The easiest way to start keeping Cubaris.
- Calm blue-grey colour that stands out on dark substrate
- Rolls into a ball
- Loves humidity: made for tropical vivariums
- Fast breeder for a Cubaris, great entry into the genus
Cubaris murina is a tropical isopod found across warm, humid regions, and 'Little Sea' is its sea-blue to slate-grey form. Its smooth, rounded shell and ability to roll into a tight ball give it the classic Cubaris look without the high price or difficulty of rare species. It loves humidity, breeds quickly for a Cubaris, and is perfectly suited to planted tropical terrariums and dart frog vivariums, where it quietly cleans up waste and mould.
Use coco peat with leaf litter, sphagnum moss and cork or bark hides. Keep most of the substrate moist, with a slightly drier area, and mist two to three times a week. Moderate ventilation is enough. Feed leaf litter, rotting wood and vegetables, with fish flakes or another protein weekly. Keep cuttlebone available.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee
We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.
Acclimation Tips on Arrival
- Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
- Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
- Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
- Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
