Bright orange, fast-moving and extremely productive. Our most affordable isopod and the go-to choice for a first cleanup crew or feeder colony.

  • Vivid orange colour with a soft, powdery sheen
  • Handles warm room temperatures well
  • Extremely fast breeder
  • Best-value cleanup crew and feeder culture

Powder Orange isopods get their name from the fine, powdery coating on their shells and their warm orange-to-tangerine colour. They are one of the fastest-breeding isopods in the hobby and handle heat well, which makes them a natural fit for Indian conditions. In a bioactive enclosure they quickly clear mould, leftover food and waste. Because they multiply so fast, many keepers also use them as a steady live food for dart frogs, small geckos and other insectivores.

House in a ventilated tub with coco peat and plenty of leaf litter and bark. Keep half the substrate moist and half drier. Feed leaves, vegetables and a protein source such as fish flakes twice a week, with cuttlebone for calcium. Use a lid with fine mesh vents, as small juveniles can slip through wide gaps.

One of the most humidity-tolerant Porcellionides — forgiving of drier enclosures and fast to reproduce.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee

We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.

Acclimation Tips on Arrival

  1. Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
  2. Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
  3. Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
  4. Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
