A lemon-yellow Cubaris dotted with blue spots: one of the most colourful isopods in the hobby, and our top-tier Cubaris.

  • Lemon yellow with blue spots
  • Colour deepens with age
  • Rolls into a ball

Lemon Blue is a Thai Cubaris with a rounded lemon-yellow shell scattered with blue spots and dark markings, with eyes that are more visible than in most species. Its colour deepens with age. Without carotene in the diet the yellow can fade in captivity, so feed carrot and colour-enhancing fish food regularly. Adults reach about 1.4 cm, roll into a ball and breed faster in warmer months (24–27°C).

Premium collection: these are slower-breeding, collector-grade species. Cultures are limited and shipped as a mixed-age group of 6 or more, which gives you the best chance of both sexes and a breeding start. Keep them in a stable, shaded room, below 28°C.

Coco peat and leaf litter substrate deep enough to burrow, with moss, rotting hardwood and cork bark. Keep it moist with a drier corner and dim light. Feed vegetables (especially carrot), a little dried fruit, protein such as freeze-dried bloodworm or fish flakes, and calcium. Lifespan is up to about 2 years.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee

We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.

Acclimation Tips on Arrival

  1. Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
  2. Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
  3. Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
  4. Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
