- Famous duck-shaped head
- Warm amber colour form
- Rolls into a ball
Rubber Ducky isopods are named for the shape of their head, which looks like a toy duck's face and bill when viewed from the front. The Amber form swaps the usual grey for warm golden-amber tones. These are delicate, slow-breeding Cubaris that need stable humidity, gentle airflow and minimal disturbance. They reward patient keepers with one of the most charming animals in the hobby.
Premium collection: these are slower-breeding, collector-grade species. Cultures are limited and shipped as a mixed-age group of 6 or more, which gives you the best chance of both sexes and a breeding start. Keep them in a stable, shaded room, below 28°C.
Moist coco peat with plenty of leaf litter, rotting hardwood, moss and cork bark hides. Keep humidity steady and avoid both soggy substrate and drying out; light cross-ventilation is enough. Feed leaf litter and rotting wood as the staple, plus protein twice a week and cuttlebone. Do not dig through the culture often.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee
We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.
Acclimation Tips on Arrival
- Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
- Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
- Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
- Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
