What You Receive: One healthy plant in a nursery pot.
Drosera adelae comes from the rainforests of Queensland, Australia, and is one of the few sundews that prefers shade and humidity, making it an excellent terrarium carnivore. Its long, lance-shaped leaves are covered in glistening sticky tentacles that trap tiny insects such as fruit flies and springtails. It spreads by sending up new plants from its roots and turns red-tinged in brighter light.
Light
Grows in shade; brighter indirect light makes it more compact and red.
Water
Use only RO, distilled or rain water. Tap water minerals build up and kill carnivorous plants.
Humidity
High humidity keeps the dew forming.
Substrate
Nutrient-poor mix of peat or sphagnum with sand or perlite. Never fertilise.
Feeding & Propagation
It catches its own insects; no feeding needed. New plants appear from the roots and can be separated.
Use rainwater or distilled water — tap water minerals build up and stress true carnivorous plants over time.
