- Rolls into a ball
- High-end Thai collector species
Cubaris 'Jupiter' comes from the tropical forests of Thailand. Its rounded grey-to-brown shell is dotted with orange speckles that recall the swirling bands of its namesake planet, and it shows brightly coloured legs. It is mostly active at night, rolls into a ball and thrives in a deep, moist substrate. Young take about 6–7 weeks to mature, so cultures build steadily rather than fast.
Premium collection: these are slower-breeding, collector-grade species. Cultures are limited and shipped as a mixed-age group of 6 or more, which gives you the best chance of both sexes and a breeding start. Keep them in a stable, shaded room, below 28°C.
Deep (7–10 cm) moist coco peat or aged sphagnum with leaf litter and rotting hardwood. Keep a slightly drier corner and good airflow. Feed leaf litter, vegetables, a little fruit (apple, banana) and protein twice a week, with cuttlebone available. Keep lighting dim.

Shipping & Live-Arrival Guarantee
We ship Monday to Wednesday only, so your isopods never sit in a courier hub over the weekend. During peak summer (April to June) we may hold orders for a cooler shipping window and will message you on WhatsApp before dispatch. Every order is covered by our live-arrival guarantee: if any isopods arrive dead, send an unboxing video within 2 hours of delivery and we will replace them or refund you for those pieces.
Acclimation Tips on Arrival
- Open the box as soon as it arrives and keep it out of direct sun.
- Gently tip the moss and isopods into their enclosure; do not pick them out one by one.
- Mist one corner, offer leaf litter and a small piece of vegetable, and leave them undisturbed for 48 hours.
- Some stress losses in the first week are normal for any live shipment; a stable, lightly humid setup keeps them to a minimum.
